SMSD‑4.2RS - programmable stepper motor controller
Programmable stepper motor controller with RS-485/RS-232 communication
The SMSD-4.2RS is a programmable device designed to control stepper motors with a current per phase of up to 4.2 A. It supports both RS 232 and RS 485 communication interfaces. Housed in a plastic casing suitable for mounting on a standard DIN rail, this unit manages the direction, speed, and acceleration of the stepper motor. It is also capable of executing complex algorithms through a user program stored in non-volatile memory. The controller SMSD-4.2RS can operate autonomously, receive control commands via RS 232 or RS 485 from a computer, PLC, or other master device, or respond to external master controllers providing impulse control for the drive.
The SMSD-4.2RS controller features dual communication interfaces, RS 232 and RS 485, allowing for programming and real-time control via PC or PLC. It offers analog speed regulation and standard STEP/DIR mode. This controller can function both as a standalone device and as a slave controlled by a PLC (or PC).
This controller offers operation in one of five primary control modes:
• Autonomous Operation: This mode follows a user program stored in its memory.
• Real-Time Command Control.
• Analog Stepper Motor Speed Control.
• Pulse Position Control: This mode uses "STEP" signals and "DIRECTION."
